1. Acceptance of Terms
- The terms "We" / "Us" / "Our"/”Company” individually and collectively refer to The Indian Ecological Society and the terms "Visitor” ”User” refer to the users.
- These terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) apply to your use of Indian Journal of Ecology (https://www.indianjecol.org) and Indian Ecological Society (https://indianecologicalsociety.com ) websites, applications, services and products (“Services” or individually a “Service”) that post a link to these Terms and Conditions and that are provided by the Indian Ecological Society worldwide ("Indian Ecological Society ", "we", "us" or "our").
- By accessing and using the Indian Journal of Ecology website and services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions expressly incorporate by reference and include the Service's Privacy Policy and any guidelines, policies or additional terms or disclaimers that may be posted and/or updated on the Service or on notices that are sent to you. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, please do not use our services.
2. Use of Services
Our services are intended for academic and research purposes. You agree to:
- Use the platform in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Provide accurate and complete information when submitting manuscripts
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Not engage in any activity that could harm the platform or other users
- Respect intellectual property rights
3. Manuscript Submission
When submitting a manuscript, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the original author or have proper authorization
- The work is original and has not been published elsewhere
- The work does not infringe any third-party rights
- All co-authors have approved the submission
- You have obtained necessary permissions for any third-party materials
4. Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo peer review. By submitting, you agree to participate in the review process and accept editorial decisions. Reviewers agree to maintain confidentiality and provide objective, constructive feedback.
5. Publication Rights
Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant the Indian Journal of Ecology the right to publish, reproduce, and distribute the work. Authors retain copyright but license certain rights to the journal.
6. Fees and Payments
- You do not need to be an Annual or Life Member of the Indian Ecological Society to submit a manuscript.
- At the time of submission, a non-refundable Article Processing Charge (APC) of Rs 750 or US$10 must be paid. The APC is non-refundable, even if an article is accepted/not accepted/withdrawn.
- Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, an annual membership fee of Rs 1000 (Indian and SAARC countries)/ US$ 125 (for other countries) is compulsory for each author. However, the author (s) can also opt for life membership (https://indianecologicalsociety.com/membership-form/).
- All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated. Payment must be made through approved payment gateways.
- The User agrees that the debit/credit card details provided by him/ her for use of the payment gateway must be correct and accurate and that the User shall not use a debit/ credit card, that is not lawfully owned by him/ her or the use of which is not authorized by the lawful owner thereof. The User further agrees and undertakes to provide correct and valid debit/credit card.
- The User may pay his/ her Membership Fees and Article Processing Charges to The Indian Ecological Society by using a debit/credit card or through online banking account. The User warrants, agrees and confirms that when he/ she initiates a payment transaction and/or issues an online payment instruction and provides his/ her card / bank.
7. Payment Gateway
The Indian Ecological Society is in the process of providing online payment gateway to facilitate the payment of APCs and membership fee.
8. Prohibited Activities
You may not:
- Submit plagiarized or fraudulent content
- Manipulate the peer review process
- Use automated systems to access the platform
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Engage in conduct that violates academic integrity
9. Intellectual Property
The platform design, logo, and original content are owned by the Indian Ecological Society. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
10. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation. Published content reflects the views of authors, not necessarily the journal or society.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Indian Journal of Ecology and Indian Ecological Society from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or violation of these terms.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in the appropriate jurisdiction.
16. Disclaimer
In no event shall The Indian Ecological Society or any parties, organizations or entities associated with the corporate brand name us or otherwise, mentioned at this Website be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitations, incidental and consequential damages, lost profits, or damage to computer hardware or loss of data information or business interruption) resulting from the use or inability to use the Website and the Website material, whether based on, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not, such organization or entities were advised of the possibility of such damages.
17. Password use and security
If you use a password to access a Service, you must not reveal your password and must take reasonable steps to keep your password confidential and secure. You agree to immediately contact the Indian Ecological Society if you become aware of or have reason to believe that there is any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security. The Indian Ecological Society is in no way liable for any claims or losses related to the use or misuse of your password or account due to the activities of any third party outside of our control or due to your failure to maintain their confidentiality and security.
