Biography
Dr. Syed Sheraz Mahdi is serving as Associate Director Research at SKUAST-Jammu, with a research focus on assessing the impacts of climate change on cereal crops and developing effective adaptation strategies to enhance crop resilience, productivity, and sustainability. His work integrates intensive field experimentation with crop simulation modelling to optimize region-specific agronomic management practices and promote efficient utilization of environmental resources for long-term conservation. He has also served as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Cambridge and Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, where he worked on advanced crop yield modelling and climate change adaptation studies. His research at these institutions involved the application of modern modelling tools, artificial intelligence, and machine learning approaches to improve prediction accuracy and support climate-smart agricultural decision-making.
