Biography
Dr. Sohan Singh Walia earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agronomy from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, where he began his career in 1995 and became Principal Agronomist in 2010. As a Ph.D. student, he initiated pioneering research on organic farming at PAU and has since worked extensively on organic and integrated farming systems under national projects. He has over 650 publications, 20 books, 11 teaching manuals, and 28 book chapters to his credit. His work led to the inclusion of organic and integrated farming systems in PAU’s Package of Practices and the development of 97 farmer-oriented recommendations. Dr. Walia designed an Integrated Farming System model integrating dairy, fishery, horticulture, vegetables, agroforestry, and vermicomposting. He has guided 18 postgraduate students, organized 32 trainings, delivered over 500 lectures, and participated in numerous national and international academic events.
