Prof. Ashok K Dhawan

Dr A K Dhawan former Head Division of Entomology PAU, Ludhiana obtained post graduate and doctorate degree from PAU, Ludhiana. He joined PAU as Assistant Entomologist in1973. He worked for 38 years primarily on management of cotton pests and was also associated in transfer of technology for paddy and vegetable crops. He made more than 71 recommendation which are adopted by farmers. He won various awards from ICAR (ICAR Team Award 2004), national award for transfer of technology with street play and PAU best extension worker award 2008 for and extension and award of honor (2008). He was state coordinator for IPM cotton from 2004 to 2011. He has authored 14 books, 402 research papers and 80 extension publications. He is contributor to many strategic review manuscript. He is instrumental in devising various research methodology and dissemination of technology to farmers which is adopted at national. He is member of executive council of various scientific bodies, member of advisory of various government and private sector organizations. Fellow, Indian Society for the Advancement of Insect Science (2007), Entomological society of India (2005), Indian Ecological Society (1995), Society for Sustainable Cotton Production (2006). Life member of 11 professional societies, position held in Professional societies as President, Vice president, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Managing Editor, Editor, Associate editor, Member, Executive Board, Member, Executive Council, Member, Editorial Board. Organized 10 International/National Seminars/Workshops/Conferences. Demonstrated the concept of IPM Center for transfer of technology and advisement to farmers. Currently he is also President of Indian Ecological Society and Society for Sustainable Cotton Production. He is also member of governing council of various public and private sector organizations. At present is involved in developing new technology for dissemination for use by various stakeholders with use of android application and advisement to various public and private organizations.
